Services

Four areas of work, one method: find out what actually went wrong, then rebuild the structure around it.

Draft placeholder. The four service lines are Bill's own, and the framing follows how he described his niche — investigation, finding the source of the disconnect, reorganization, then handing it back. The supporting detail under each heading is still a first pass for him to correct.

Bill is usually called when something has stopped making sense — records that no longer reflect reality, an accounting department that has fallen behind the business, an estate or an entity that needs someone to take hold of it.

The work is investigative before it is anything else. Understand how the situation actually got here, identify where the disconnect is, then reorganize around it. The goal is a function that runs correctly afterward — without him.

The Four Service Lines

01 Forensic Accounting

Reconstructing what actually happened when the records no longer tell a straight story. Tracing transactions back to source, finding where the numbers stopped reflecting reality, and documenting it in a form that holds up to scrutiny.

  • Transaction reconstruction and fund tracing
  • Investigating discrepancies, gaps, and irregularities
  • Rebuilding records from incomplete source material
  • Findings documented for owners, partners, counsel, or a court

02 Receiverships

Taking hold of a business or asset under appointment — stabilizing it, getting an accurate picture of what is actually there, and administering it through to resolution with proper reporting throughout.

  • Taking control of books, accounts, and records
  • Establishing an accurate opening position
  • Operating and reporting during the appointment
  • Accountings and administration through to closure

03 Estate Management

Administering the financial side of an estate, including the ones where the records were never kept cleanly to begin with. Inventory, valuation, accounting, and untangling whatever needs untangling.

  • Inventory and valuation of estate assets
  • Estate accounting and record reconstruction
  • Reporting to beneficiaries, fiduciaries, and the court
  • Coordination with counsel and tax preparers

04 Fractional CFO Support

Deliberately temporary and structural. Bill steps into an accounting department that has fallen behind what the business needs, raises it to a level where it works properly — then leaves.

  • Rebuilding the close, the controls, and the reporting
  • Fixing process and structure rather than patching output
  • Training the people who will run it afterward
  • A defined handoff, with an end date

This is structural work, not strategic advisory. It is about how the accounting function is built — not about product mix, pricing, or where to grow next.

How the Work Runs

Investigate, then reorganize

The same sequence applies whether the assignment is forensic, fiduciary, or structural.

Investigate

Get to what actually happened, from the source records rather than from the summary. This is the part most engagements skip.

Find the disconnect

Symptoms are rarely the problem. Locate the point where process, people, or structure stopped matching what the business actually does.

Reorganize

Rebuild around the real cause — the process, the controls, the reporting, the roles. Structural change, not a workaround.

Hand it back

Leave it running, documented, and staffed by people who understand it. A finished engagement is one that does not need him.

Being Straight About It

What this isn't

Specialized work means saying plainly what falls outside it. Bill is not the right call for:

  • Ongoing outsourced accounting. The engagements are built to end. If you need someone in the seat permanently, you need a hire, and he will say so.
  • Strategic growth advisory. Product lines, pricing, and market strategy are somebody else's specialty. His work is structural.
  • Routine bookkeeping. He can rebuild a set of books that has gone wrong, and set up who keeps them properly afterward — but he is not the person to keep them month to month.
  • [ Tax return preparation — Bill to confirm whether this belongs on this list. ]

If a conversation makes clear that the problem is one of those, he will point you toward the right person rather than take the work.

Something isn't adding up?

That is usually the whole brief at the start, and it is enough to begin with. Working out what the actual question is tends to be the first useful thing that happens.
